Function

For our Central Monitoring Center, we are looking for a Monitoring Engineer / Specialist with a passion for software. In this role, you will be the driving force behind Hardware and Software Support, optimizing existing monitoring tools that add value for customers and improve the efficiency of service operations. You will also be co-responsible for maximizing the availability of our clients' systems by interpreting early warnings and fault detection from the monitoring system and responding adequately.

Together with your colleagues from the service departments, you are responsible for setting up, maintaining, and troubleshooting Linux environments for monitoring and managing our clients' environments. Additionally, you will provide remote and onsite support for these environments.

You will work closely with our technical service desk to register and resolve all notifications from the monitoring system within the agreed service levels. We aim for continuous improvement, using evaluations of calls to further refine remote monitoring.

What you will do

• Actively monitor systems and generated events;
• Follow up on open tickets, service, and change requests, and communicate with the customer;
• Handle, evaluate, and improve notifications;
• Analyze data received from the monitoring system;
• Connect and register new installations on monitoring tools;
• Prepare technical documentation;
• Ensure complete registration of events;
• Adopt a customer-focused approach for maximum customer satisfaction;
• Promote Monitoring service contracts and other services using your expertise.

What we ask

• You have knowledge in IT management and can program.
• You have at least 5 years of experience as a monitoring or devops engineer.
• You have an eye for quality and detail.
• You are inclined to automate tasks.
• You are proficient in at least one scripting language: Python, PowerShell, and/or Bash are preferred.
• You will encounter the following technologies in our environment. Knowledge of these is a plus, but not an absolute requirement:
  • Nagios XI
  • Prometheus
  • New Relic
  • Check MK
  • Virtualization
  • Cloud environments in AWS/Azure/Google Cloud Platform
  • Windows Server Farm
  • Network infrastructure (Cisco, Meraki, …)
• You are bilingual (Dutch/English), knowledge of the French language is a plus.
• You possess advanced knowledge of Linux.
